Bundle-Up Run 5K and 1K at Winterfest

Welcome to the Bundle-Up 5K Run and Walk and 1K Kids Race, held in conjunction with Wenatchee Valley Winterfest! Co-sponsors for the Bundle-Up Run are Icicle Brewing Co. and Saddle Rock Pub and Brewery.

The first 200 paid registrants will receive a pair of commemorative gloves, WHICH HAVE NOW SOLD OUT.  In addition, all paid participants who are 21 years and older will get a discount ticket for beer at the Winterfest Beer Garden at Saddle Rock Pub & Brewery, located next to the finish area.

We also will be holding a costume contest among runners and walkers, with many great prizes to give away.

The event benefits the Wenatchee High School cross-country and track teams.

Course description: The 5K course will begin at the Stanley Civic Center Plaza (Wenatchee Avenue and First Street in downtown), go north on the Apple Capital Loop Trail along the shores of the Columbia River, and then head back to the finish at the Stanley Civic Center Plaza, where Winterfest activities will be taking place. The free 1K kids race will go from the Stanley Civic Center to the loop trail and back.

Start time: 11:30 a.m. for 1K kids race; 12 noon for 5K

Start line: Stanley Civic Center Plaza, Wenatchee

Finish line: Stanley Civic Center Plaza, Wenatchee

Online registration will close at 5 p.m. Jan. 24, 2014. Please note the 5K registration fee includes Washington State Sales Tax (8 percent), which we are now required to collect. Those 12 years and younger can run or walk the 5K for free but have to register. There is no registration and no cost for the 1K kids race.

Day of race registration: You can register in person for the 5K from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. the morning of the race, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Stanley Civic Center Plaza. There is no registration and no cost for the 1K kids race.

Course note: The course on the Apple Capital Loop Trail is open to other users.

Walkers: We welcome walkers! In fact, this is an ideal jaunt — 3.1 miles — for anyone who wants to get some good exercise in.

Timing: This event will not be officially timed. But there will be a running clock at the finish area for runners and walkers to record or note their time.

Clothing: As the event’s name implies, temperatures can be cold at the end of January in the Wenatchee Valley. Please dress accordingly.

Trash: Leave no trace. Please be kind to our beautiful Columbia River shoreline and community. Please don’t abandon trash.
