WENATCHEE — The run must go on. River Run, that is.

RunWenatchee has announced the next River Run Half-Marathon, 10K and 5K will be held Sept. 21, 2013, and again in conjunction with the Taste of the Harvest Festival in downtown Wenatchee.

Having fun on the River Run.

The opening of online registration will follow soon.

This year’s race, scheduled for Sept. 15, was canceled after air quality in Wenatchee became extremely hazardous due to smoke from Chelan County wildfires.

Race Director Joel Rhyner said anyone who signed up for the canceled 2012 race can receive 50 percent off the 2013 River Run, or 50 percent off one of three other runs — Turkey on the Run in Wenatchee (this Nov. 22); the Red Devil Challenge near Cashmere (June 2013);  or the Lake Chelan Marathon, Half, 10K (Sept. 7, 2013). To take advantage of the offer, participants need to enter the code RUNWEN when registering online at checkout.

All three River Run races — half-marathon, 10K and 5K — start at Centennial Park, cover parts of the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail along the Columbia River, and then finish at the Stanley Civic Center Plaza. Both the start and finish are located within the perimeter of the Taste of the Harvest Festival, a street fair that features food, wine and beer gardens, live music, and arts and crafts booths.
